IBM Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus operations management software consolidates complex IT and network operation management tasks. Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus users benefit from improved service availability and resiliency and real-time service management for data centers, network operations centers and IT domains. Based on requests from our customers, Visual has integrated Visual Performance Manager with Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus.
Visual Performance Manager alarms identify significant changes or decreases in performance levels on the network. Using alarms, you can uncover problems as they occur and monitor their severity over time. Performance-based alarms include: End-user Response Time, Server Connect Time, Network Response Time, and Application Response Time alarms.
Alarms are color-coded to indicate
degraded performance, excessively
degraded performance, or closed status.

Within the Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus Active Event List, Visual Performance Manager alarm details and current status are now available. Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus users can see when and where the alarm occurred, the severity, and the application(s) and site(s) that are impacted.
Alarms are color-coded to indicate degraded performance, excessively degraded performance, or closed status. Integration with the Tools menu in the Active Event List, allows the user to select and launch Visual Performance Manager directly from the Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus user interface. Users can alternatively right-click on an event and choose Visual Performance Manager from the list of options. Visual Performance Manager will launch in context with the event, taking you directly to the corresponding alarm and quickly facilitating in-depth analysis and rapid resolution.

The integration can be completed in minutes. Add a few Visual Performance Manager configuration files into Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus and you’re off and running.
Once this simple integration is done, the enriched event reporting helps our customers to quickly identity the business impact.
The launch-in-context capability simplifies the analysis workflow and helps in reducing Mean Time to Repair.
VPM Connex is a set of capabilities within Visual Performance Manager that facilitate integration into your IT management infrastructure in support of key initiatives including event automation. VPM Connex supports event automation by sharing enriched SNMP traps (including application, site, and server details) and by enabling automated data gathering procedures to help operations engineers make fast problem assignment decisions.
With this capability, VPM Connex can be used to programmatically create and collect custom-defined PDF reports, JPEG chart images, or raw data, which are relevant to a particular alarm, and attach those items to the event or trouble-ticket record. The fault domain and issue ownership are quickly isolated and proven.
